Doubling English Literacy Test Scores for First Graders in Kenya

Team4Tech led two projects with Orphans Overseas’s Karibu Centre, a co-educational preschool in Kenya, in May 2013 and October 2014. Volunteers from Intel, VMware, Facebook, Coursera and Google trained 60 master teachers and deployed adaptive learning software in four schools, benefiting 2,000 children. Early English literacy test scores more than doubled in six months for first graders who used the adaptive learning software program implemented in their schools. Read the full case study here.

What and How Do We Measure?

Team4Tech works closely with our nonprofit clients to ensure that we have well-defined metrics in place to measure our impact on teaching and learning, and to help inform future project adjustments and opportunities. To assist these nonprofits, Team4Tech has developed a Monitoring and Evaluation Toolkit from which the nonprofits can select and refine desired project outcomes and metrics for students, teachers and administrators. Team4Tech's program managers are able to guide nonprofit partners through M&E planning and execution using the framework laid out by the Program Development Plan

We also work with our corporate partners to measure the benefits from our immersive service learning program for their employee volunteers.  Our innovative volunteer training curriculum is designed to build 21st century leadership skills such as critical thinking, creative problem solving, collaboration, communication, and expanded global mindset, while boosting employee engagement and customer empathy.
